This Museum located in the basement of the Tabernacle houses the Upper Snake River Valley Historical Society Museum, aptly named the Teton Flood Museum, because of its extensive collections of flood memorabilia. The collection includes films, photos, and other items related to the Teton Dam disaster.

Also in the museum are many pioneer relics, depicting the lives of early pioneers, an Idaho opal/agate collection, North American animal head collection, World War I and II items and much more.

History was written in the landscape of the surrounding communities by the scouring floodwaters of the Teton Dam on that fateful day, June 5, 1976. Much of the damage has been rectified, but there are still tell-tale signs of the overwhelming devastation caused by the flood that can never be erased. A high water line marks the entrance to the museum indicating the level of flood water from the 80 billion gallons of water that came through Rexburg. Exhibits have been made possible through many donations, memberships, and other support of the museum. Many one-of-a-kind items are housed here.

Westwood Theater
The Westwood Theater opened in 1917 as the Rex, showing silent films and hosting Vaudeville shows.

In 1935 the Rex was remodeled and renamed the Romance and began showing 'talkies' (movies with sound).
In 1976, following extensive damage by the Teton Dam flood disaster, the theater was sold, again remodeled and renamed the Westwood. Carmike Cinemas bought the Westwood in 1998 and ran the movie house until it closed March 29, 2001.

In the fall of 2005 the City of Rexburg purchased the Westwood. The theater has now been remodeled for community entertainment and events. Movies, plays, concerts, recitals, meetings, and parties are a few of the uses that this 420 seat theater is used for.

Supported by the Rexburg Arts Council, the Westwood Committee was formed to create the mission and goals for the theater. The theme of the committee is to "Bring back the Romance". One goal is to bring back the look and feel of the roaring 20's. Student groups from the Construction Management and Interior Design Departments at BYU-I have already begun planning and design. Funding is needed to make this project a reality. Contact Rexburg City Hall to make your donation; donations can be financial, materials, or in-kind labor.

Located just 15 miles west of Yellowstone National Park, this high mountain lake is the kind of place fishermen dream about. The state park, named after explorer Major Andrew Henry, opens the Thursday before Memorial Day and closes October 31st, weather permitting. The park offers campfire programs and a Junior Ranger program. Anglers fish for cutthroat, brook and rainbow-cutthroat hybrid trout. The park has a modern fish cleaning station near the boat ramp. Camping is at one of 44 sites and there are camping-cabins also available for rent. During winter, information on Henrys Lake can be obtained by calling Harriman State Park.

Welcome to Yellowstone National Park!

Established in 1872, Yellowstone National Park is America's first national park. Located in Wyoming, Montana, and Idaho, it is home to a large variety of wildlife including grizzly bears, wolves, bison, and elk. Preserved within Yellowstone National Park are Old Faithful and a collection of the world's most extraordinary geysers and hot springs, and the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone.

Grand Teton National Park

Located in northwestern Wyoming, Grand Teton National Park preserves a spectacular landscape rich with majestic mountains, pristine lakes and extraordinary wildlife. The abrupt vertical rise of the jagged Teton Range contrasts with the horizontal sage-covered valley and glacial lakes at their base, creating world-renowned scenery that attracts nearly four million visitors per year.

Craters of the Moon National Monument and Preserve

is a vast ocean of lava flows with scattered islands of cinder cones and sagebrush. We invite you to explore this "weird and scenic landscape" where yesterday's volcanic events are likely to continue tomorrow...
